About Hina

Proud Londoner

"I was born in North London, studied in the East, have family in the West, and live in the South London. Representing London comes naturally to me and being your London Assembly Member has been the greatest honour."

"From the start of my term, I have been campaigning for leaseholders trapped in the cladding crisis. Standing up for refugees and asylum seekers' right to work. And working with businesses to reach net zero. And this is just the start, there’s more to come. London needs cleaner air for all, a city that is safe for all and a capital that is accessible to all. We need a liberal city that works for all Londoners."

Passionate Campaigner

"I've campaigned all over London, supporting members and activists across the capital.

Before I was elected as a Councillor in Merton,  I campaigned with other parents and teachers for Fair Funding for All Schools, and I founded a mentoring charity for young people from diverse and challenging backgrounds.

I taught for 20 years in some of the most deprived schools in London and I’ve seen how young people feel disenfranchised by the political system.

This drives me to make politics fairer, and for our democracy to be more inclusive through electoral reform."

Prepared for the job

"Working alongside Caroline Pigeon has been a great education and experience. It's prepared me for the job to guide and support the next team in City Hall.

My success as a local Councillor in Merton, winning against both Labour and the Conservatives, will help support other Lib Dems win across our city.

I know how to challenge the Mayor on issues that matter to Londoners and how to work with others so that London can thrive.

I'm the only Assembly Member on the list of Candidates, and I'm the only Candidate who has the experience and the knowledge to be your Lib Dem voice in London."
